Event :: WobbleAid 5, Glasgow 24 March 2012

The very first Wobbly event was WobbleAid 1 in Donegal in August 2008.it has been an annual event ever since and now, for the first time, WobbleAid comes to Scotland! 

The venue is Arta in Glasgow’s Merchant City on Saturday 24 March 2012.  Tickets cost £10 and include a free drink, and entry to the Arta nightclub after the gig. tickets can be ordered via e-mail (WobbleAid@WobblyWilliams.com) or through Tickets Scotland here (tickets bought through Tickets Scotland are subject to a £1.50 booking fee)

There are three bands each playing a 40 minute set as follows (more details of the bands provided at the bottom);

8.40PM Break – Ken Morton, Guitar Creater from Morton Guitars http://www.mortonguitars.co.uk/ will be play a couple of songs on the guitar being raffled on the night

11 PM night club opens to public.
The Bands….

CLOVA (main contact: Aoife McGarrigle)
The three-piece consists of Martin Coffield (vocals, guitar & bodhran), Colin Bulloch (vocals, guitar, mandolin & banjo) and Aoife McGarrigle (fiddle & backing vocals).  Clova established themselves in the Scottish ‘new folk’ circuit with spirited and vivacious performances throughout Scotland and Ireland. Over the past 10 years since the band formed, Clova’s heartfelt and provocative lyrics have won the band respect and affection in the folk-roots scene.

BUTTON UP (main contact: Garry John Kane)
Button Up Records is a small independent record label based in the town of Coatbridge near Glasgow. Initially set up to release the recordings of the band Button Up, the labels has expanded to sign several other artists. Button Up first came to life in 1998 when Garry, joined by drummer Ross McFarlane and keyboardist Paul Gallagher, started gigging around Glasgow with a unique hammond driven mod/soul sound.  Modena is the brand new album from Scotland’s cool mod/jazz collective. Button Up release the second single from their Modena album on March 4th. www.buttonuprecords.com

Dance the night away to the fabulous MLC, a 4 piece band playing pop / rock covers from the 60’s right up to present day chartbusters.
